June 9, 7:30pm, Billy Strayhorn
If you are familiar with the jazz composition, "Take the A Train," then you know something about not only Duke Ellington, but also Billy Strayhorn, its composer. Strayhorn’s thirty year collaboration with Ellington was unique in the annals of songwriting. As Duke himself has said, "Billy Strayhorn was my right arm, my left arm, all the eyes in the back of my head, my brainwaves in his head, and his in mine." Beginning with Strayhorn’s incomparable ballad “Lush Life,” through such well known standards as “Satin Doll” and “Day Dream,” his legacy continues to captivate musicians and audiences alike.

August 24, 7:30pm, The Bynars w/ Special Guests
The Bynars do pop right — catchy melodies, hooky, jangly guitars, warm and soaring synths. These songs are for putting on repeat.
“If Weezer and The B-52’s got drunk and hooked up, their offspring would be The Bynars… Deliriously danceable rock doesn’t get any better.”
— Lonely Vagabond
“The Bynars’ [debut album] is a sparkly, spiky, adrenalized dash through a Rentals-meets-Passion Pit electro-pop dream that buzzes with Weezer-y guitars, old school new wave synth squiggles, and perky songs about weighty topics like asking your mom for money.”
— The Boston Globe

Flamenco Soul Project
June 25th, 2012 at 8:00pm
in Charles Mosesian Theater
Flamenco Soul offers an up-close look at the flamenco and Latin sounds coming from Spain and the Americas. Under the artistic direction of Javier Limón (Seven-Time Latin Grammy Award Winner), Flamenco Soul presents a sample of the best flamenco in the world, risky but pure at the same time, by the hands, feet and soul of a group of young talents that set the tempo of the sound of today. The structure of this show will consist of a journey: a first glance at flamenco's oldest and most original styles; an overview of its distinct paths of evolution; finally arriving at the experimental modes of today, offering a preview to flamenco's future.
This event is part of Young Flamenco Project, an initiative of SPAIN arts & culture (www.spainculture.us) and the Berklee College of Music – Mediterranean Music Insitute to foster the musical creativity of young Spanish and Latin-American artists in the United States.
